This is a photo of an adobe mill south of Las Vegas New Mexico in the Mora Valley in the small community of La Cueva.

We happened to find this unique old mill while driving up to Taos New Mexico and stopped and had a picnic. Not pictured is an old paddle wheel. Water from a canal still flows past the mill.

It was built in the 1850’s and was used to grind flour. In the 1940’s it generated electricity from a large paddle wheel.

It is located on the William Salman ranch property. A small gift store is located in the north end of the old adobe mill. The mill is in remarkably good condition.
