Traveling to Cannon Beach, OR with dogs

Cannon Beach, OR is a great place to getaway with your dogs if you are just passing through on a roadtrip or staying at Cannon Beach for some R&R.

I went for a weekend escape with my husband and 2 dogs in November and we had a great time. We drove down from Seattle on Friday afternoon – with enough light for a romp on the beach with our 2 dogs: a 2 year old black lab and 3 month old golden retriever. We stayed at the Ocean Lodge - which has beach access about a mile from the downtown area. There was a dog-wash area where we could clean-up the dogs after running around the beach.

Saturday we went for a long walk on the beach down towards the main shops area of Cannon Beach. We walked around town and stopped to get a take-out lunch and eat outside with our dogs on some benches. We had great food and later stopped at Sleepy Monk Coffee – to enjoy lattes out front with the dogs (they have great adirondack chairs).

Things to Do

• running around on the beach – you can walk up and down the beach with your dog – with lots of great smells. Dogs are allowed on the beach here – either on leash or under voice control.
• walking around town – there are many shops and restaurants to visit as you walk up and down the main streets.
